Oz The Great and Powerful
In this prequel to The Wizard of Oz, circus magician Oscar Diggs is magically transported to the Land of Oz where he deals with three witches and uses his illusionist skills and resourcefulness to be come the Wizard the residents have been expecting. Go to this movie if you want your imagination to run wild. It has great 3D and a charming story. Although the witch scenes could scare young children. The characters are thoroughly delightful. 3 bags of popcorn. Stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams.

In this engaging drama from Chile, Gael Garcia Bernal portrays Rene Saavedra, a hot-shot ad executive who creates a controversial media campaign opposing military dictator Augusto Pinochet during the referendum of his presidency in 1988. No violence or bloodshed but a very creative ad campaign. A little humor and some tense moments but thoroughly entertaining. 4 bags of popcorn. Stars Gael Garcia Bernal, Alfredo Castro, Antonia Zegers, Nestor Cantillana.

The Gatekeepers
Meet six leaders of Israel's secret service, the Shin Bet, which has dealt with conflict amid the quest for peace for nearly 50 years. For the first time, these men discuss the challenging consequences of their counter terrorism mission. Very informative and very heavy movie. I am not big on political documentaries but this one can shake your boots. I give it 3 bags of popcorn. It stars real people that actually led the Shin Bet. For trivia knowledge they are: Ami Ayalon, Yuval Diskin, Carmi Gillon, Yuatov Peri, Avraham Shalom.

Lore
After her Nazi parents are imprisoned, Lore leads her younger siblings across a war-torn Germany in 1945. Amid chaos, she encounters a mysterious refugee named Thomas, who shatters her fragile reality with hatred and desire. With that being said, this movie is the direct opposite of a thriller. Yes, we are talking real, real slow. Lore and her siblings are the poster children for Hitler's Youth Movement. Thomas may or not be a Jewish refugee from a concentration camp. He has the paperwork but looks a little too well-fed. I am giving this two bags of popcorn.
Save it for a DVD. Stars Saskia Rosendahl, Andre Frid, Nele Tebs.

JackThe Giant Slayer
When Princess Isabelle is kidnapped by rampaging giants, mild mannered farm boy Jack, who accidentally opened the gateway that allowed the giants to enter the kingdom, goes in search of her. He faces off with the giants and the King's wicked chief advisor. This movie is just fun and the special effects are outstanding. Jack definitely kicks some giant bootie. 3 bags of popcorn. Don't wait for DVD because you will miss the 3D big screen experience. Stars Nicholas Hoult, Eleanor Tomlinson, Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor.
